Buru Monster Theory

Evan Johnston (unfiction thread) wrote

" if you translate the bubbles and blinks that the horse makes in the underwater page of slusho into morse code it comes out to be Quote: NAMETIDEMANSTERBURU. i keep getting that result, i think i'm fucking up though cause it's one letter away from (if you seperate it into words)

Name: Tide Monster Buru.

There's an interesting site about the Buru:
http://www.newanimal.org/buru.htm

It says the Buru, sighted by village elders but not recorded, would be the largest surviving dinosaur. (dinosaurs are mentioned several times on the character myspace sites)

From wikipedia: The Buru was an aquatic reptile said to have lived in Jiro (also spelled and pronounced as Ziro) valley, a small town in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, India, at some undefined time in the past. In 1947, Professor Christopher von Furer-Haimendorf was the first westerner to be told about the Buru. By that time, the animals had reportedly already become extinct in the valley.

The creatures are said to have gone extinct from India, by villagers draining the marshes.

What if it didn't go extinct, but was driven deep into the ocean, where it's diet was changed, and something (slusho ingredient in the depths) made it grow unnaturally in the depths.

Anyway, I don't think this fits, because JJ's creature seems like it might shoot fire, but who knows. Even though JJ wants to create an all new monster for the US, he still needs to give it some history, some reason for being and a reason why we haven't seen it before.

Modest Mouse video on Jamie's myspace site

I was lookin at the myspace page for Jamie, and on the profile song is Modest Mouse. I looked it up on youtube, and the video shows sailors talking about a big big fish in the sargasso sea! I think this could related to the slusho history story, and the idea of a creature coming from the sea.

Here are some screens from the video:

Cloverfield Project goes Web 2.0 with MySpace

JJ Abrams is flat brilliant. The latest news on the Cloverfield project is that there are MySpace profiles for each of the main characters in the movie. Yes, the movie that is still six months away! Just think what he can do with those characters over that time. By the time we see the movie, he will have already a fan base and enough Slusho shirts sold to pay for the movie. (Did I mention the Slusho site store is now open?)

Here they are:

Rob - http://www.myspace.com/robbyhawkins
Jason - http://www.myspace.com/jj_hawkins
HUD - http://www.myspace.com/hudsonplatt
Lil - http://www.myspace.com/lily_ford
Beth - http://www.myspace.com/beth_mcintyre
Marlene - http://www.myspace.com/marlenadiamond
Jamie - http://www.myspace.com/jamielascano

I gotta feeling alot of people are going to get to know this crew. I predict a scene where Jason sacrifices himself to save brother Rob, or vice versa.

Monstrous poster hits Cloverfield movie forums

Just getting this up. Judge for yourself. Legit, or fakes by someone with an eye for a poster worthy of the trailer?

Why is the Statue of Liberty facing toward NY? I thought it face outward.
There are what looks like claw marks on the statue and buildings, if you look at the large version of the poster. There is also a wake of some sort in the water.
