Second Cloverfield Viewing and Cool Monster Sketch

I saw the movie for the second time this weekend. I completely enjoyed the movie the first time, but I liked it even more the second time. I knew where and when to look, noticed more. I don't know why, but I even cared more about the characters the second time, though I don't suggest they were oscar performances. They seemed,in fact, ordinary people, but then weren't they supposed to be?

Chuparex posted this sketch of the monster at UnFiction, and I think it's the best I've seen so far by a good shot. Here's a copy of it:

Gruesome photos on 1-18-08

There's a couple of new photos up at www.1-18-08.com. It looks like 'something' was munching on whales bigtime. There were no secret messages on the backs of the photos when I flipped them.

Happy Cloverfield Movie Release Day!

I hope all of you Cloverfield fans are having a blast this weekend, checking out that ugly monster and the fate of the unlucky six.

Meanwhile, there was a new video on jamielovesteddy.com, as Jamie is preparing to go out to a party, presumably Rob's. Uh...she's a nasty girl.

There's also a new headline on the Tagruato site, and I have to tell you: I don't think the back-story is done. It think we will see more information. I don't know how much, or how long, but there are things in the movie that suggest to me that we may see more of the story. I also believe there will be a sequel, and I sure hope so.

Cloverfield Review and Monster Descriptions

Cloverfield movie screenings abound tonight, with early shows across Florida, Indy, Philly, and probably alot more.

If you've seen the movie, take a look at my early Cloverfield review (Jan 11), and leave a comment about what you liked, my cloverfield monster drawings, etc.

I'm planning to see it a second time this weekend, to get another look at the cloverfield monster, and just look for stuff that I missed in all the action the first time.

Cloverfield Review Up at KidReviewer.com

I just posted my review of Cloverfield based on a pre-screening last night. The review contains my crude drawings of the Cloverfield monster, both standing and walking, and a few spoilers. I don't give away the ending though.

See the complete Cloverfield Review .

"Overall, I thought there was lots of excitement. At times my heart was beating very fast. It's one thing to be in a dark tunnel full of rats, it's quite another when those rats are running from some sick creatures that will jump your face and sink their teeth in your chest. I thought the movie was awesome as a roller coaster ride, especially as a fan of the marketing campaign since the day the trailer hit last July. However..."

Cloverfield Hype is Huge as Premiere Approaches

As suggested before, events in the Cloverfield world are moving along in real time with the movie release. An attack has already happened in the Atlantic, Tagruato has new press releases, TIDOwave has new postings, jamielovesteddy has videos involing eating some seabed nectar, Rob posted on his myspace about landing a job with Slusho!, and invitations are being sent for Rob's goodbye party to movie fans in our real world.

I'm on a list to see an early screening tomorrow, and barring any trouble getting there after school (90 miles away), I'll be posting a review on KidReviewer.com.

Here are some of the latest news stories about the launch:

LAist Interview: Matt Reeves, Director of Cloverfield
LAist: Over the years you have been very selective in your choice of projects. What made you want to direct your first monster movie?
Matt Reeves: Well, I guess it had to do with the approach. At the time, there was a project I had written and will be directing called The Invisible Woman. I was putting together the cast and we had an actress cast for the lead and then she fell out twice and it just didn’t work scheduling-wise. During this time, J.J. Abrams had been putting together this deal for his new company. He’d been doing television stuff, but he was going to also be moving into producing features in addition to the stuff that he writes and directs. So he was really excited about doing this monster movie, and that was the thing he was telling me about all during my work on The Invisible Woman. It sounded really intriguing and fun, but I never thought that I would have anything to do with it. MORE Cloverfield Interview with Matt Reeves

Some early fan art, and downright silly art, trying to capture the cloverfield monster on paper.

Cloverfield Movie News - Chuai Station Collapse Video

"News" articles appeared on Youtube in different languages talking about the collapse of the Chaui drilling station. References to a dark shape underwater, and in the Russian version you can hear the tell-tale sound of the monster as he spews debris into the air.

Here are links to three videos:

There's also a contest to go to Rob's surprise party! (you have to get yourself to New York though, and then you might get squished by the monster)
