Cloverfield Review Up at KidReviewer.com

I just posted my review of Cloverfield based on a pre-screening last night. The review contains my crude drawings of the Cloverfield monster, both standing and walking, and a few spoilers. I don't give away the ending though.

See the complete Cloverfield Review .

"Overall, I thought there was lots of excitement. At times my heart was beating very fast. It's one thing to be in a dark tunnel full of rats, it's quite another when those rats are running from some sick creatures that will jump your face and sink their teeth in your chest. I thought the movie was awesome as a roller coaster ride, especially as a fan of the marketing campaign since the day the trailer hit last July. However..."

New Cloverfield Trailer!! Shown before Beowulf

A long awaited second trailer for Cloverfield was shown to audiences attending Beowulf in theaters. It's much longer, and has glimpses of both the BIG BAD monster, as well as hints of smaller parasitic creatures which are more creepy to me than the biggun.

Check out the second Cloverfield trailer in HD at Apple.

Buru Monster Theory

Evan Johnston (unfiction thread) wrote

" if you translate the bubbles and blinks that the horse makes in the underwater page of slusho into morse code it comes out to be Quote: NAMETIDEMANSTERBURU. i keep getting that result, i think i'm fucking up though cause it's one letter away from (if you seperate it into words)

Name: Tide Monster Buru.

There's an interesting site about the Buru:
http://www.newanimal.org/buru.htm

It says the Buru, sighted by village elders but not recorded, would be the largest surviving dinosaur. (dinosaurs are mentioned several times on the character myspace sites)

From wikipedia: The Buru was an aquatic reptile said to have lived in Jiro (also spelled and pronounced as Ziro) valley, a small town in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, India, at some undefined time in the past. In 1947, Professor Christopher von Furer-Haimendorf was the first westerner to be told about the Buru. By that time, the animals had reportedly already become extinct in the valley.

The creatures are said to have gone extinct from India, by villagers draining the marshes.

What if it didn't go extinct, but was driven deep into the ocean, where it's diet was changed, and something (slusho ingredient in the depths) made it grow unnaturally in the depths.

Anyway, I don't think this fits, because JJ's creature seems like it might shoot fire, but who knows. Even though JJ wants to create an all new monster for the US, he still needs to give it some history, some reason for being and a reason why we haven't seen it before.
